It is a choice between creating most jobs but a low quality of competition through departmental teams or to have a regional system like India, England and Australia where copetition is tough but player jobs are lesser than in the other option. I will always go for the later.

Everyone has their expertise in some areas like IK is considered an expert in the game if cricket and SS is considered expert in plundering. PM Shahbaz shouldn't second guess IK in the field of cricket. It's just absurd.

departments always give PMLN more money.... competition and merit is not required in our country.one should have right connections and money, one can even become PM... eventually.dont do any corruption more than 50 crore, you will remain respectable...and free.even from jails you can fly abroad for medication, you just manage to do a drama for dieing for 7 days and off you go... connections can get you a post good as foreign ministry, never mind if you don know which country is where..

@Shahid, thank you for your opinion just like the great leader Imran Khan who gives many countries examples.Neither of you know what the actual system is in those countries, but like the rest of this nation, since you have an opinion that means it's informed and correct. In developed nations parents have enough disposable income to send children for sports. Focus is not on education alone. Sports are commercialised meaning income is generated through ticket sales and tv rights.

With no training facilities provided by the government nor funds to support, they pass the buck to the departments.Regional sport is better to create competition.Sports work on sponsorship and sportsmen make a lot of money worldwide but through governments providing facilities to train and not through departments. By the way what does this guy know about sports. During the past 35 years sports has taken a heavy toll in Pakistan due to no attention. Medals won now are results of PTI support.

Nice move by PM Shehbaz to restore departmental cricket. It provides job and earning to players. Without department players can not survive. Still no need to do away regional teams, in fact there is need to increase it. There should be separate tournaments held for regional and departmental teams.
